Comments:  Seller description in 2022 : this car was built by Karmann Karosserie for BMW in 1973 and delivered new to the United Kingdom. It was then purchased by its current and only Australian owner through an importer in 1986. The car underwent a bare metal restoration in 1991 which addressed the fitting of a larger E23 3.3-litre engine which was common for the time. It also addressed the rust issues the vehicle had at the time. The car retains its factory D jet fuel injection system and presents largely in original specification. It has recently been serviced by Benicia Motors and BMW dealerships. Exterior condition of this E9 CSL presents well for its age, with complete paintwork and subtle patina. There is minimal bubbling or imperfections seen on the paint, though some points of scratching are observed in places such as the bonnet and boot. A scratch-dent is seen above the rear left tail light and paint cracking is noted around the door handles. A respray would benefit this vehicle to its full potential. From its most recent inspection surface rust was noted on the rear floor section and areas such as the lower firewall and pedal box. Other items of patina are seen on the chrome trim work and badging and the seller notes the passenger rear ¾ window is not working. The four wheels present in largely decent condition. The tyres retain a decent amount of tread. Interior condition presents in fair order, with original bucket seats showing minimal signs of wear and tear. The trim work and woodgrain accenting display more obvious deterioration, though this is still considered commensurate with the car’s age. Some scratches are seen on the back of the seats and on the headlining. Otherwise, the door trims present well and instrumentation operates as normal. Receipts of recent service work will be supplied with this vehicle’s sale along with 3 keys. The personalised number plate is not included in the sale but is open to offers.  This vehicle is currently registered in Victoria until 4/11/22. There are no security interests registered on the PPSR against the serial number.
