Amilcar C6

Amilcar C6 (No22)driven by W.B.(Bummer)Scott. Finished 7th overall, 2nd in class. Amilcar C6 (No23) Reg No YW91 driven by Beris Harcourt Wood. Retired, but still running at finish.

W. B. Scott has also written reminding us that although he finished the 200-Mile Race covered in oil, this was from a broken oil pipe, not from mechanical trouble. He did a lot with his Amilcar Six, as I said in the article about his racing career (Motor Sport, December 1976), such as taking Class G records, with his wife, up to 500 miles, without any trouble, also in 1928, for which Amilcar's gave him a gold watch. He also ran in the smaller Brooklands Meetings, as when his wife in their GP Sunbeam beat Scott in the Amilcar by a very small margin indeed in a 50-mile race at a Middlesex County AC Meeting and with the Amilcar won at a Surbiton MC Meeting, at 89 1/4 m.p.h. and then Scott won another race at 90.05 m.p.h. Incidentally, Scott bought a new 4.cylinder Amilcar the year he came down from Cambridge
